About Venara and how we calculate

Venara is an astrology app that starts from your actual birth chart, not your star sign. This page explains exactly how the things you read are calculated, and what we do not promise.

How your birth chart is calculated

Planetary positions for your date, time and place of birth come from real astronomical ephemerides, not estimates. We use an ephemeris service built on the Swiss Ephemeris, and if it is unavailable the app recalculates locally with its own engine.

Birth time matters: the Ascendant and houses shift every few minutes. If you do not know your exact time we use 12:00, and the Ascendant and houses should be read with caution — the rest of the chart still holds.

How we calculate today’s sky

Current positions of the Sun, Moon and planets are computed with the astronomy-engine library from real astronomical data. The moon phase is derived from actual elongation, not approximated from a calendar.

The transits you see are real angles between today’s planets and the planets in your natal chart, with the orb shown.

What Celest, the AI astrologer, does

Celest is a language model (DeepSeek) that we send your birth chart and the current sky, then ask to write about them. The interpretation is generated automatically: it is not written by a human astrologer, and no human reviews it before it reaches you.

The astronomical calculations are exact. Their interpretation is, like any astrological interpretation, symbolic — and can be wrong.

The tarot cards

We use the traditional Rider-Waite-Smith structure and meanings: 22 major and 56 minor arcana. The artwork is our own, but the archetypes are the classical ones.

The card you draw is weighted by the transits active in your chart, so live themes make certain cards more likely. It is still a draw — nothing is chosen in advance.

What we do not promise

Astrology does not predict events and does not replace professional advice. Nothing in Venara is medical, psychological, legal or financial advice.

If you are going through something difficult, please talk to a professional. Celest is not a therapist and cannot help in a crisis.
